Remember that if you decide to have earrings in the ear, be sure to go to a proven and experienced specialist. Pay attention to the hygiene in the salon and during the treatment, rubbing alcohol used for disinfection may be a sign it’s not the place you want to visit. Ear piercing requires extreme precision and appropriate skills. It may seem very easy to do, but it is worth putting yourself in the hands of someone you trust.

Ear piercing methods

There are several methods of ear piercing. Choosing the one for you consider such aspects as your pain threshold, price, time, and safety. The cheapest option may not be the safest one and the shortest healing process may not especially mean the smallest cost. Let your priorities guide you.

Piercing machine

A qualified person shoots a special gun in the ear, thanks to which he inserts an earring into the tissue. It is a very quick method that causes virtually no pain. After a while, you can enjoy the beautiful earrings in your ear.

This method, however, has a small downside, and therefore piercers do not use it. The tissue in the ear breaks suddenly and quickly, which significantly slows the healing of the wound, leaving you longer exposed to infection.

Needle method

The second method of piercing after which you can later wear a beautiful earring in your ear is to use a needle. This method is considered by some to be safer because – unlike a gun – the needle does not break the tissue suddenly and the healing time is much shorter. Piercing with a needle is more gentle and slower. After piercing, an earring is inserted into the hole. However, the negative aspect of this method is longer procedures and a little more pain. Low pain tolerance would not facilitate this way of piercing.

Types of cartilage piercings

When it comes to the types of earrings in the ears (ear party), the choice is huge. Let’s start with the fact that you don’t have to pierce both ears – you can have only one ear with jewelry, it doesn’t have to be symmetrical. In fact, the piercing can be done anywhere in the ear, as long as our ear anatomy allows it.

Sometimes it may happen that some cartilage in our ear is too small and it is impossible to pierce it. If a place is wrongly chosen, it may not heal. Also you need to take into consideration whether you have enough space for your favorite type of earrings. If you’re a fan of bigger ones, you may limit the number or pierced spots.

Most of the earrings, or rather their placement, have a specialized name, and here they are:

Lobe piercings / Double lobe piercings

This is a standard lobe piercing. It’s probably the best one if you love hoop earrings. It is also a subtle ear piercing idea as well as all others which involve only one hole or two but close to each other. The more punctures and the bigger the earrings, the bolder the look.

Tragus piercing

It is a piercing of the small cartilage closest to our face.

Vertical tragus piercing

It is a vertical puncture of the same cartilage as in the Traugus case.

Anti tragus piercing

This is a cartilage piercing that is visible immediately above the earlobe.

Helix piercings

This is the piercing of the upper, outer part of the cartilage in the ear. There are also such ear piercings with two spots pierced nearby giving a more upgraded look. There are a few types of helix piercing:

• anti helix piercings – the piercing on the opposite side to the Helix,

Daith piercings

It is a daith piercing of a small and folded piece of cartilage in the middle of the ear. It may be perfect for a king of hoop earrings but consider the hygienic aspects; any earring in the inner parts, closer to the ear canal may make it a bit more challenging when it comes to cleaning it.

Rook piercing

It is a piercing of the lower leg of the ear dome.

Snug piercing

It is the piercing of two layers of cartilage on the outside of the ear.

Ragnar piercing

It is a puncture from the outer part of the labrum of the ear and coming out of the other way.

Conch piercing

It is a piercing inside the auricle. This earring doesn’t have one specific place. There is also the outer conch piercing, a piercing through the middle wall of the ear which is closer to the outer part of the ear and the inner conch piercing, a piercing through the middle wall of the ear which is located closer to the inner part of the ear. In fact, we can have conch piercing at any ear height.

UFO piercing

It is a piercing that combines one or two piercing – Forward helix piercing and rook piercing.

Transverse Lobe piercing

This is a piercing that goes the full width of the earlobe. Gives a bit bolder look, often used by emo or heavy metal fans.

Industrial piercing

It is a double piercing of the top of the cartilage. One puncture opposite the other, which we connect with a long earring, the so-called barbell. Industrial piercing is the largest earring that can be in the ear.

Orbital piercing

This is a raise that also needs two raises. Punctures are connected by one earring. In the case of the orbital, the holes do not have one specific place.

Self-piercing of the ears, which is not advisable, can involve, for example, a painful puncture in a nerve that we had no idea existed. Piercer knows the anatomy of the ear, so it’s better not to save on piercing, because we can only hurt ourselves. So if you are planning any piercing, do research and choose the right person.

It should also be remembered that if we decide to have a piercing, we will have to take care of a fresh wound in the first weeks or even months.
